I haven't seen some familiar faces lately. If you've been lurking, busy, or just found yourself with not much to say lately, please check in here and let us know how you're doing! (In fact, even if you've been participating and had plenty to say, post here, too!)

Hey foggi,
I've been busy with school and studying for the LSAT. Even though I'm a bit overwhelmed with work, I've spent some "me time" reading. I just finished a reread of The Amber Spyglass (for some reason Pullman is becoming a comfort read for me) and I started The Lost Symbol last night.

*blush* I've been lurking here a lot more than I've been posting. I don't have much to say outside of "Theo-Missie-Cole did this or this or this" stuff. That stuff gets pretty dull to listen too. I'm pretty much in my own housewife-y bubble right now. 8)

Hi foggi!
I have been busy with college and the classes I teach... so that's why I haven't been around the HE lately :P...

Hi foggi,
I have been busy and sick. But I have been posting a bit more lately. I am trying to find a different day job and or considering applying to graduate schools for a second graduate degree. I am also doing dramaturgy and choreography on a play about Isadora Duncan. Rom was cast in a play that is going to be in Baltimore and Kansas City so he's going to be on the road a bit which is good but kind of sad for me. My health health problems are stable- just the usual aches and pains. It is autumn which I love for crafting and knitting and making soup.

Was I missing? I thought I was here, but maybe I wasn't all there...

Oh, Mom wants me to post that her laptop is on the fritz and she'll be off for a few days. 8)

Hi Foggi!
I've been living in the hole underneath your house eating bread straight out of the freezer. It's a cold and solitary life down here and I had to wait a few weeks... or was it months -- it's so hard to tell time down here... before I could get my laptop. Luckily the concrete foundation is not thick enough to block off the Wi-Fi signal so I can occasionally post here. Please drop down some canned food for me and some matches. With winter coming on I'm going to need to burn off my excess facial hair for warmth.
Your little brother,
Espy

I'm glad you're enjoying Pullman's books! I discovered both that and the HP series in the same year. Both are comfort reads for me and I read each many times that first year. :)
#8 espy!
ROFL! I thought you were in JP's basement, or! Perhaps we're discovering a few secrets. Off to the rumor thread! ;)
I don't know if I'm 'here' or not, but know I'm not like I used to be. When I'm not at school, work, or taking buses, I'm typically somewhere feeling very drained. I've never taken this many classes (five) in a term before. I may not again unless absolutely necessary, but it feels great knowing that I'm doing so pretty successfully. While I'm out at school/work/on a bus, my cell phone can't get on LT anymore (I was so sad about that!) but I can get on Facebook, and it doesn't compare to here, but I like that I can see how some of you are doing there. I think about everyone here all the time and as I type am wearing my LT t-shirt.

I am here buried in mountains of dresses, fudge, and yeast rolls. Good thing formal dresses are bagged or they'd be messy. ;)
I have been lurking more than posting lately. Once I'm behind in posts, I read what I've missed and then have run out of time before I can write a post. But look! I'm posting now! :)

The number of unread posts count is scaring me!
I've been busy working, and now I have the flu because I've been working so hard. I'm at a total loss about what to do tomorrow, as I have an important meeting I am meant to be attending, but it is considered bad form to go to work when you have the flu since n1h1:/.
At home we have started to do some renovations which we have been procrastinating about for approx 5 years. I now know why we put them off for so long!
The builder is due in the morning, and he will be putting up a new ceiling in the bathroom. Before he can do that, we need to do some rendering on the walls. MrA is currently locked in the bathroom finishing the rendering, and I'm not letting him out until he does.
Any contractors we have dealt with have automatically quoted double (triple in one case) for any work we want done. They are doing this simply because of the location, and they automatically assume that we must be well off. We are not!
The first electrician quoted $2000 to install (not supply) 5-6 downlights. I managed to find another one who only charged $700. A friend who lives approximately 10 kilometers away, only had to pay $350 to have about 5 different electrical jobs done including rewiring.
Anyway enough of my ranting, I hope everyone else is doing ok.
PS. Another rant, because all of the trade work has cost so much I can't get my new bathtub (which is currently on sale) for at least another 2 months :(.

Am I one of the missing? I usually manage to check in once a day, but maybe miss a day about once a week. If you ever wonder if I have been around, check the Pride and Prejudice quotes. I always notice if Mandy hasn't been on, and now that I think of it, where has Suge been?
School is going great! The teachers love their new laptops and Smartboards. I finally got everyone's document cameras and printers hooked up a week ago. Now onto new computers for the open lab and mini-laptops for kids in the classrooms and media center. Tuesday I have my first "Teach Your Parents" night. Third grade is going to teach the Internet. I am not sure what kind of turnout I will get since I just sent the notes home last week.

#16 -- I intentionally didn't list who I was missing -- for one thing, I would inevitably forget someone, and then they would feel like they hadn't been missed, and for another thing, I wanted to hear from everybody! It just seems like it's been quiet around here lately.

#16: I should have asked Suge what I could mention about her. Without giving too much detail, she has a lot going on and says doesn't like posting bad news. On the plus side, she is going to be going to the Dominican Republic for a couple of months, starting in November, I think. Everyone should leave her a message on her profile saying hello and telling her to post because we miss her. I don't think she believed me.
22MrAndrew
I posted saying jp said you are too good for us.
... i wish i was going to the DR for a couple of months.
>#20: that could take a while.
Maybe some explosives?

#21: I've meant to ask suge the same thing, though I thought she was only going to DR for a month? She's leaving the day New Moon comes out, which she didn't realize when she got the tickets, she's a little ticked about that! I know she's been on LT recently and is probably lurking some, so I think profile comments letting her know she's missed is a great idea!
I've not been posting as much either I know, work has gotten busy for me recently as I'm starting to pick up more responsibility and working on getting volunteers trained so I can take on even more! But I do check the threads everyday, even if I don't always post a lot. Also there's a proliferation of game threads right now and I get bored with those quickly. Though they're great for the people who like them, it sometimes feels like those are the only threads that really get any traffic anymore.

#23 -- I feel the same way about the game threads. I've been trying to add the occasional non-game thread here and there. Maybe we should try for another book discussion or something of that nature?
25biblioholic29
#24: I'd like that, it's been awhile since our last book discussion.

12 I am sorry MrsD.
22-24 When I am swamped I feel like I can drop in on the game threads without knowing all the posts ahead so I think of it as a way of letting people know I am alive. I see a few book discussions but they are all things I am not reading. I feel bad if I read a bunch of posts and don't respond.
I concur foggi, maybe we need a new group read to make people feel connected again in all our fall busy-ness.

I'm here and there.
I've been a little busy lately, but I'm trying to post a little more often. It would help if I were better at knitting and reading at the same time. ;)
And if I weren't so easily distra-- ooh, a shiny!

Hi Foggi =) I go missing from time to time...yes....anyway, I've been trying to get on a couple times a week, but sometimes I don't make it depending on overtime at work and what still needs to be done when I get home.
For a while I was trying to catch up on some reading time rather than play on the computer.
BTW I think a group read is a wonderful idea!

*sheepish grin* update on my mini rant...
I went to my meeting - 6 hours straight without a break, full on negotiating. The only thing that got me through was that all parties were equally detestable and I was able to console myself with the thought that everyone in the room would have the flu within a few days *loud evil muhaha*
In the middle of my meeting I went in the lobby at work to see electricians doing the same thing we are getting done at home :/. I foolishly asked them how much they would charge, and they said a figure less than half of what we paid - I thought I heard a blood vessel pop in my head right there and then.
The ceiling went in at home and looks fab :)
I'm suffering from the shiny syndrome as well at the momen

Hello! Like many, I've been lurking and not posting, although I'm even lurking less than I'd like to be. Between settling into a new job while simultaneously settling into the role of a working mom, trying to stay on top of household chores since my husband works full time AND is in grad school, and hanging out with Rex, LT sadly gets neglected. Fortunately it's all good stuff that keeps me busy/away, but it's still sad not being here as much as I used to be...

#4 renald,
I enjoyed The Lost Symbol. It's a typical Brown novel, but it was a form of escape-ism (for me, at least). My review is up if you want more detail.

Well I haven't been on in what feels like forever. I go on every week but mostly just catch up on threads and then once I'm actually done reading it's either like a week or 2 late or I have to go back to real life.
I'm so tired a lot of the time. I've been very busy with school and homework. And having band rehearsal Mondays and Wednesdays from 3-6 and then football games on Fridays and competitions on Saturdays. But our band isn't as good as last year. Last year we were a 1st place band and this year we're a 2nd place band. But having more freshmen than the juniors and seniors combined might have something to do with it.
I miss LT and all the fabulous people here. And the abundance of unread posts is unnerving. But at least life is pretty fun right now. I will try to come on here more, at least for my own sake. :)

I'm guilty of lurking a lot lately! Just been super busy. That could be my new super hero identity - it's a bird, it's a plane, it's SUPER BUSY!!!
heh heh... Or not. Anyhoo, it's nice to have a forum to know that others are as behind on thread reading as I am.
Sadly, you won't see much of me in November as I'll be swept away by NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).
Of course, if anyone wants to join me in that, my screen name there is same as here!!! :)

I'm lurking mostly, I don't do the game threads anymore, too hard to keep up. I do check facebook, so friend me if you like.
I'm a sucker for HEG threads, tho, so usually you can find me there. I know I'm a dirty old bag...heheheh.

This past week has been crazy for me with Parent/Teacher conferences. I've been on, just not posting tons. Then yesterday it started snowing. What a first day of spring. Got home from church this morning and measured (after 2 hours of a rain mix) and it was 11 inches. Not sure how much it was before it rained.

Here!!
My home computer has been banning me from LT recently, for no rreason whatsoever, other than blind stubbornness. But tonight it seems to have let it's guard down! Hurrah!!

I've been missing, too. There's been an incredible amount of things to do at work lately. I'm all caught up now but expect next week to be very busy.

Right now I've been sucked into the house buying/packing/cleaning vortex. I try to stay up to date on the threads but it's mostly a Fail.

I'm here, we awitched cell phone carriers and my new phone requires internet, so I've been keeping up with FB on my phone b/c I've been to lazy to get out my laptop. I guess I could try getting on LT with my phone, but I think the posts will be harder to read due to the smaller screen.

If you see any of me wandering around please send me back

Sounds like a shirt I have that says:
I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, tell me to wait for myself.
And yes, I have worn that out in public. I'm just that cool.
