I'm not sure if this is a frequently asked question, but on the one hand I couldn't find other threads about it and on the other I couldn't see anywhere better to post it.
Does anyone know why some member recommendations are by "anonymous member"? (See for example here.*) I don't look at member recs often or make them, but I don't see any obvious way of making a recommendation anonymous in the interface. Are these recommendations by users no longer on LT (and if so, why wouldn't their recommendations deleted?)? Or is there some other way it's possible to post a recommendation without it being tied to a username? If users with private catalogs make recommendations are they anonymous? (And if so, is that desirable?) Is this a bug, deliberate, something else?
*On a side note, this particular recommendation pairing raises interesting questions about recommendations being reciprocal. On the one hand, I can imagine that there might be someone who liked and recommends both books; on the other hand, I can also easily imagine someone else recommending that the person reading the romance novel "sequel" actually check out Lawrence's original, but not necessarily the other way around...)

It is possible to make both anonymous recommendations and nonreciprocal recommendations (checkboxes). I'm not sure how recommendations from private users work.
