This book was probably written in the 80's.
It was written by a Los Angeles Times reporter.
It started out with the story of a famous actor (then) who was notified by the IRS that he was being fined for not reporting $10,000 income from his movie studio.
After several visits and after talking to several people, including the studio head, who told him it was just an error, and the IRS would be sent a correction notice, the actor was still not satisfied, and went to the cops, who eventually found out that the studio head was embezzling funds.
The bulk of the book is about the conflict between the new President, brought in as a result of the embezzlement and who was hired by the New York investors, and the New York investors themselves.
The book is mainly about the business of Hollywood.
Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the studio, the author, not even the actor!
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I'm thinking the recording industry might also be involved, either as a subsidiary, potential partner, or holding company.
Thanks
