Hello, I've been on LT for a while now & love it. I have always received great suggestions for myself but now I am looking for some book suggestions for my 8yr old niece. She has turned into such a great little reader (I'm so proud) and I would love to find some good books for her. I have read several YA books but still too old I think for her. Any suggestions would be great & very much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I always found that Little House books entertained my two cousins when they were that age. Also there is a book that I just reviewed call The Secret of the Sacred Scarab by Fiona Ingram that will fascinate young readers.

I would suggest The Magician's Elephant by Kate DiCamillo.

Beverly Cleary's books: Beezus and Ramona etc. are perfect for that age.
Also books by Roald Dahl, Betsy Byers, Judy Blume, the Captain Underpants series...

I understand what delma seems to be. I have a little girl who will be 9 next month and she loves The June B Jones books, I use to think they were for younger kids but they seem to grow with the kids. She also Has been taking a real liking to the goose bumps books. For some reason she wants to read them all the time, R.L. Stine is a great writer, he keeps there interest. I hope I have helped you out some.

Rumer Godden's doll books are great, especially The Dolls' House.

My daughter loves the Wayside School books by Louis Sachar right now.

Clementine! The Clementine series is the best thing for girls that age since Ramona, in my opinion.

My 9yr old niece really enjoyed the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series. They were well written and interesting enough for both of us. It was fun reading them together and discussing them afterwards.

I just read two of the books in the Sisters 8 series by Lauren Baratz-Logsted and *loved* them. The series starts with Annie's Adventures
