where is everyone?

Seems like the Dr. Z thread fizzled out (or are there still people reading it, but not yet discussing it?)

Is anyone moving on to 2666?

It's shockingly quiet out there.....

I'm p.50 into Dr. Z - liking it so far, but not much to chew on yet for discussion... hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll be further advanced!

I think it is just a very busy reading month.
People are beginning their numbered book challenges, the 10/10/10 challenge, there are an awful lot of group reads going on right now and then there is also R.L.
I finished Doctor Zhivago, said my piece and have gone back to the group reads of: Les Miserables, Light in August, Clarel, The Return of the Native, The Post-Office Girl and World Without End.
So I am thinking that people are just reading and not posting much..............perhaps.
IDK.

I'm actually reading (and enjoying!) Vanity Fair. A tad late, perhaps... Will contribute to those threads once I get a decent amount of the way in.

I think I'll skip Dr Zhivago as I still haven't sourced that one, and then move onto 2666 next month sometime. I've borrowed a workmate's copy in preparation.

I finished Dr Zhivago and said my piece, I won't be reading 2666 next month as I have a stack of other reading to do and this doesn't really seem my thing. I'm busy reading for A Suitable Boy Read-a-long and the Les Mis read-a-long

(As an admitted lurker who has not yet actually participated in any of these group reads, despite great intentions...) It's difficult to know what's on the current slate, because the group header information hasn't been updates since approximately October. That could impact participation.

Oh dear! Can any of us update it, or do we need our group creator to do it? Teelgee, are you reading us!!?!

Yes, oops, sorry. Will get it updated today. I don't think I'll have time for Dr. Z this month, too much going on and, yes, some other challenges. I may read it into February though, since I won't be reading 2666.

Thanks for the nudge!

I finished Vanity Fair, enjoyed it very much. I will skip Dr. Zhivago and currently doing a 1010 group read Picture of Dorian Gray. I am planning to read 2666 in February.
I was planning to read Dr. Z but hearing about the poor translation, I lost my will.

I've just gotten my copy of 2666, another French translation (translated as 2666 - har har). Will probably get cracking this week.

I'm almost done with book 2 of 5 in 2666. This may be the most challenging book I' ve ever read. It is slow going, but interesting in terms of writing style, characters, and plot. I'm glad I started early!
