Given how much many Americans and people around the world loathed Bush Jr, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

It's not implausible to me that there was poisoning--look what happened to Yushchenko.
Of course, more concrete evidence would be necessary to substantiate such a claim.
This much is more certain, however: Laura Bush's statement that U.S. intelligence doesn't know if other delegations were affected is ridiculous. Surely they checked into that.
This kind of false naiveté smacks of a publisher (and complicit celebrity author) trying to create a buzz with a "what if" tag, and hoping the story will be "sexier" and sell more if speculation is fueled.
