Local Venue Photos - This feature is temporarily down...

I went to add a photo of a local bookstore today (very proud of myself for remembering to photograph it), but when I clicked to add the photo, I got this message:

Feb: 18, 2010. This feature is temporarily down as we transition the images to a new system.

I'm not in a rush, but I'm curious to know if there's a timeline for restoring venue photo services.

This came up in another thread recently, though I can't remember which group (RSI?). Tim said that it's got to do with the change in the photo system, and a question of how/where to store the images. I imagine that once they figure out what to do with images for local, it'll come back.

Hopefully it's soon. I, too, went out recently and finally remembered to take my camera to get photos of a used bookstore that was lacking them. For now, I've uploaded them into my profile photos, thinking maybe it'll help me remember to move them to LT Local if we ever get pictures back.

I'm not as organized as you, keristars. I took a picture of a little library in my area several months ago, and got the message mentioned @1. So, I hope there'll be an announcement when venue photos start working again. Otherwise, I'm bound to forget about it, again, as I had before this thread popped up.

Thanks, keristars -- I like your idea of loading photos onto your profile. Good storage spot!

There's also the "junk drawer" photo area everyone has; it's intended for warehousing pictures you want to put in Talk posts, or whatever, so this would fit well under the "whatever."
