After a visit to Glasgow to my great-grandfather's home on Garnet Hill, I discovered the Novel by the same name, and the wonderful crime writer, Denise Mina. Her primary characters, Maureen O'Donnell and Paddy Meehan, are a revelation, as is her dry and witty narrative voice. She tells tough stories in a completely engaging way. I'm working my way through them. Just begun Slip of the Knife.

Denise is a very good writer. She tells her stories in a very gritty way.
