I'm trying to rememeber a science fiction title/author from 60/70s time frame. The book was about a colony on a planet where everything around the colony was sentient and was always attempting to kill the colonists because of the "feelings". Once you got away from the colony, the plant/animal life reacted different to humanity and wasn't always trying to attack. I believe it was a trilogy, but not sure.

Sounds Like Deathworld to me the colonists leave and spend the next two books looking for somewhere more hospitable.

Possibly Pennterra? The OP description reminds me of it vaguely, but the novel only published in the 80s.
