Well, either the author page is promoting a minority combination (in disregard of the canonical author name) or perhaps canonical author name from a non-English version of the site is now affecting the English version. I don't know. One thing's for certain: there somethin' rotten in...William Shakespeare.

ETA: Corrected by modifying the canonical author and then changing it back (see messages 7-9 below)

Is it even possible that Shakespeare's name has been misspelled so many times in English that a foreign spelling now wins the vote? No -- I can't, I won't believe it (*puts hands over ears*)

Polish, no?

#2: How many misspellings can there be? If William Shakespeare used it, it can't be wrong, and he used most of the conceivable spellings.

>4 prosfilaes: True that.

Let's try touchstones:

William Shakespeare -- doesn't work
William Szekspir -- does work

So from now on we only need remember ze for ha, drop the e, ir for eare -- got it!.

This is a long-standing bug where the last canonical name set on any site becomes the canonical name on all sites. There's a thread about it somewhere, probably in Bug Collectiors.

So all we have to do is reset the canonical name on the English site and it will usurp everyone else?

It worked! Thanks jjwilson61

The members on the Polish site may not thank me, however.

Someone beat me to this by six hours or so.

I have got to find the time to read a bunch of these postings -- I'm falling out of touch.
