As someone noted on another thread (xxxx), GMail now allows "rich text" signatures, including HTML and, with the HTML, images. This means that, suddenly, LibraryThing's 2007 "email signature" feature is MUCH more relevant:
Here's the email signatures page
http://www.librarything.com/signatureline.php
Here's the blog post about it
http://www.librarything.com/blogs/librarything/2007/09/add-a-dynamic-signature-l...
So, I'm going to re-release it. I am NOT inclined to make major changes, but if people have suggestions, I'm game to hear them.
Anything?
I'm thinking we need collections in there.
I'm not sure if I'll get the "book" feature working. The "coming soon" there was, I think, about an upcoming memory feature that we didn't actually end up doing. So I may remove that.

Yeah, it does seem like it should use the "currently reading" collection in some way. Why not an option to link to the work page?
Am I right that this doesn't work for private libraries? Either that or there's something wrong, because there's just empty space under "the image" for me.

Yeah. It can't work for private libraries.

For Gmail in Firefox or Chrome, use of the WiseStamp addon lets you use the feature. You can just copy and paste the html into the edit feature.

Yes, definitely collections. It would be nice if there were a little more control over size and color (rather have a green outline, and make it a bit narrower). One thing - the box needs some internal padding. On my image, the I of 'I am currently reading' is half under the box outline. Hmmm -

Grumble. Can't show title or author because the square brackets turn into touchstones, and the outline doesn't show up because...no style tags in Talk? Something. Anyway, it really does get overlapped by the outline.

Yep, choosing a specific collection would be great.

"rather have a green outline"
There's a green outline? I don't see one.

No outline shows here. In my email, there's a darkish bluey-purple outline (box) around the words - that's what takes up the width, most of my books don't extend that far. It would be nice if there were options to choose colors (as there are for the widgets). Not major, just nice.
Oh phooey. Look here. That's what it looks like in my email (at least, I hope you see the same thing I do.)

Isn't that the border that images get when they're also links? IIRC, in gmail, all attached images are links to view them or download them.

I think it would be neat to offer the option of having the "first words" section from CK added in.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." I am currently reading A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.

>10 legallypuzzled: Ooh, I potentially really like that idea.
Tim, I think jjmcgaffey (post 5) was saying that he would prefer a green border over the current blueish one. I too would like a bit more control over appearance things like that, but collections support is the big one.
