YA Science fiction novel

I've been trying to think of this book where a group of people are living on a spaceship. I think it was called the Mayfly... the thing that I remember the most is it starts affecting them, like one woman has a baby and they don't cut the umbillical cord and the woman and the kid develop a telepathic connection (I think).

Any ideas?

It might be K. A. Applegate's Remnants series, starting with The Mayflower Project. It has people fleeing Earth in a spaceship called the Mayflower, in stasis. One woman gives birth while in stasis, and the resulting child is freaky and telepathic and not at all right.
