Although I posted mine in the other thread, it seems like it might be agood idea to have a thread dedicated to telling each other our Second Life names.

I'm mrgrooism Usher

Well, I'm doubting that I'm ever going to get in there (Second Life doesn't like my video card), but the name I set up was Eschatos Graves.

Justin Sicling, Friend of Tolkien, at your service.

LyzzyBee Lundquist although I found it all* a bit disconcerting (help from other LTers notwithstanding) and not sure if I'll be back!

*not the Thingumbrarians, but the whole second life environment. Probably cos I, erm... didn't read the instructions.

Does anyone know the URL string for SL members, so we can add it to the "Also on" section? I gather, however, that not being on the web is the default.

5> So, you were the naked woman, eh? I was the bald guy, who grew hair, lost it, and then put on a raccoon outfit. Soji Slade something or other. Can't recall the last name now, though I have it written down somewhere.

Anya Janus, the perpetually confused, though my RL prevented me from staying long. I'll read the instructions by next week, though, really.

Mar 26, 2007, 3:41 pm

My Second Life name is "Tohno Bonetto". I remember experimenting with Real Life a long time ago when it was new, played for a few hours and couldn't find anything worth doing. To see what it has become now though...geeze.

I'm Geoff Ikarus in SL. If you see a little blond kid running around wearing a leather jacket and jeans, thats probably me.

I'm Soli Heron in SL. I just joined today. I'll try to make it to the next meet up.

Oh, right, thanks. I thought the naked chick had a name like Simeon or something like that, though.

I definitely should not have spent my evening fiddling around on SL...but I did, and now I have to stay up late finishing my project :P

My name there is Salamander Clary.

(It was very disconcerting to accidently teleport into a big group of naked people...I am still not sure how that happened...)

#16 - LOL!

I HATE when that happens!

18timspalding

Suddenly finding yourself among naked people is disconcerting, but, at least in real life, a lot depends on what happens next.

19bluesalamanders
Mar 27, 2007, 9:44 am

18 tim -

I think it would be even more disconcerting in real life...

Unlike real life, on Second Life I had the option to jump up and fly away.

If I ever get to the LT area my name is Tobie Oh, only because that is how I felt every time I tried to get off orientation island. Oh Oh Oh Oh.....and Oh No was not an option.

I am on primarily for work events. I am "Joel CiscoSystems" - everyone in my company has that last name for their work accounts. I tend not to use my account for anything but work-related events, because, yes, if you teleport around exploring, you may end up in the middle of a group of naked people, and all I need is someone snapping a 'picture' of me in such a group.

But chatting with other bookworms seems professionally safe. ;)

The name I use on SL is "Spindrift Gasser" but I am not on too often.

I've been in SL for months, but am just getting around to joining this group on LT. My moniker is "Lludmila Mirrikh." I had lost all interest in SL until BookMooch became a presence and now I'm allllll excited that LT is there as well. There wasn't anyone to talk to except other librarians, now I'm finding too much to pull in my interest. I was at a poetry discussion Saturday! And I only made the BookMooch social for a short while because my dsl disconnected in the wind we had here Sunday and today. Then I couldn't get back on.

I'm Lana Lilliehook. But I don't have a computer at home, and I can't really 'play' here at work, so I have not been active at all. :(

Hi, Lludmila back again. I have some blackmail material from last night. Not you, Mossflower. You looked great. http://staff-developomendo.blogspot.com/
But I have an interesting photo of someone's Evil Twin. It's still on my harddrive, but up for auction. I'll take payment in unmarked book suggestions.

Lludmilla--- who would have thought that beneath such a modest demeanor--- beats the wicked heart of a felon!

I will think twice before I TP you to a bacchanal. Hehe

I was tp'd last night to something while I was trying on that coppery dress again (trying to make the shoes match and create a more modest jacket to go with) and I showed up. I stood around for quite a while and no one spoke to me. Then I looked at my profile. Hmmm, very hard to get up to anything when your profile says you're a "middle-aged librarian with a lap full of cats." Then I remembered I'd put that in specifically to keep some sorts at a distance. I'll have to work on that.
How would: Baptist granny longing to share pix of beloved grandchildren with someone who hasn't seen them yet - do?

Message for Mossflower (and anyone else I met/talked to in there) - I tried to log in to acquire the stuff you sent me, but it demanded to update then couldn't. I can't see any other applications for me with it, and I can't face battling with it just for a couple hours use on a Sunday evening! Sorry if that sounds defeatist but I have a lot going on in RL right now!

Anyone wants to stay in touch you can get me on lbroomfield at ftml dot net if you see what I mean.

Have fun!

I don't blame you, SL can be difficult. When they publish an update and I try to download it from the log-in area, my computer screams, Virus Alert! Virus Alert! Instead, I go to the downloads link at the SL website and haven't had any trouble downloading the most recent update. That doesn't mean I haven't had trouble with the programming after I get in. I used to be the one who complained long and loud about her firewall and now I'm the one who introduces herself, "Hello, I'm Lludmila and I crash al-"
Someday we hope to see you again. Don't let the RL get you down.

Hope to see you in SL! Must be fun searching for your name ... roseat... ro... aw, poo! ... loon!
This week I ran into another Ludmila, only she has a single "L" and mine has two: Lludmila. Not sure how she pronounces hers. Mine's pronounced LYOOD-mill-ah. I don't make things half difficult.

I haven't been on SL in ages, but maybe I'll manage next Sunday. Brenna Rinkitink, at your service.

I joined because a couple favorite authors were on there - Rolanni (who's an LT Author) and...I've forgotten Steve's SL name again. Also an LT author, I think - they write together, Steve Miller and Sharon Lee. Any other Liaden fans, check out Friends of Liad and Chatrez Island. They have a lot of book samples available in SL - I'm not sure if there are any complete books, though.
