The book was about a woman who lived in the light court ad served the queen. But she had magic that could have qualified her to be a dark fae if she had revealed it. She could see ghosts and I think she had power over them.
The story starts with a man from the dark court seeking refuge with the light court. He is (of course) hot and shows an interest in our heroine immediately. She is suspicious but also flattered because she had just gone through a humiliating break up.
It turns out that her father (who wasn't really her father but we don't know that till later) was the guardian of a book with a spell that would allow the fae to leave the reservation that the humans have put them in. She uses her power over dead people to find out about it.
The hero was the leader of..I think they called it the wild hunt, but basically he ws the grim reaper for the fae. He is actually on a mission from the king of the dark court to get the girl for the king. He thinks it will be good for her until it turns out the king is a bad guy. The king is the heroine's father and wants to kill her so she can't challenge his power.
There is a sub plot with humans trying to get the book so there are a bunch of people after the heroine. I think was the second book in the series, although I didn't read the first. I read it in the past year and it wasn't that old. I just can't remember any names which makes it hard to search amongst the large number of fae materials out there.
