Pluses now work in the site-wide search - yay! But they're still not functioning in the catalog.
Sample book: http://www.librarything.com/work/2820122/book/16296045
I have C++ in the title, in tags, and in the DDC field.
For all of them - double-clicking to edit the field in the catalog results in 'C ' being saved instead of 'C++'. It works on the Edit page - C++ is correctly saved.
For searching in the catalog - searching for c++ or "c++" looks for 'c ' and of course finds nothing. Same for all fields, tags, title searches (in catalog).
Specifically for the tag - clicking on the tag Computers:C++ gives me the (empty) list of books with the tag Computers:C . Going to my Tags page (in the catalog), hovering over that tag and clicking on tag page takes me to the (empty) page for the tag computers:c (I assume there's a space or two after the c, but I can't see it because there's nothing written after the tag).
I can find the title or the correct tag page through Site Search, it's only in the catalog that it's not working yet. Thanks!

May want to double check now. We were discussing the Dungeon and Dragon tags yesterday in another thread and Tim says that issue got fixed:
http://www.librarything.com/tag/ad%2526d
Granted it's na & sign and not a plus but I thought I would mention it.

Yeah, I did check again - / is ok, & is ok...I think it's OK in the catalog too. But + doesn't work in the catalog at all.
Actually, & doesn't work completely in the catalog either. Clicking on a tag containing & does a filter for the tag up to the & - tag red&blue filters for red. red/blue works fine, though.
And searching (in the catalog) - + gives a space (c++ searches for 'c ', as above); & searches correctly for that specific phrase; / searches for...not sure. The two words? red/blue gives me 8 books, one of which has the tag red/blue. Oh, interesting - searching for tag:red/blue gives me two books: the book with the tag red/blue AND a book with _red in the tags and Blue in the title, but no blue, let alone red/blue, in tags.
http://www.librarything.com/work/844720/book/19989627 (the other is the one in my original post)
And somebody else just pointed out that & and / are also problematic in series titles - and probably in the rest of CK, too, at least anything that gets clicked on to make a URL. Awards, events, locations... Don't know about + there, but probably. And maybe ?.
Characters are a pain...
Site search: all working (can find, can go to tag page)
Catalog search: + becomes a space, & works, / - is ignored? considered word separator?
Tag page from Tags page (hover & click): + becomes a space, & works, / works
Filter by tag: + becomes a space, & ends the tag, / works
Doubleclick to edit: + becomes a space, & and / work

Memo to self to break this into discrete bugs.

If you like I can search several topics related to METACHARCTERS. What is missing is also a central documentation for their special use.
Beside the characters mentioned the following should be included:
<, > because referencing to objects using them might conflict with browser rendering,
APOSTROPH, multiple APOSTROPH's (I remember some odd behavior, one related to tag combining)
QUOTE (I remember some odd behavior, one relates to tags).
fixed typos

Catalog search: + becomes space; / either becomes space or is considered a word separator
Tag page from Tags page: + becomes space, other two work
Filter by tag (click on tag in Your Books): + becomes space, other two work.
