by Martin L. West
On This Page
Description
Heroic epic of the eighth to the fifth century BCE includes poems about Hercules and Theseus, as well as the Theban Cycle and the Trojan Cycle. Genealogical epic of that archaic era includes poems that create prehistories for Corinth and Samos. These works are an important source of mythological record.Tags

The title says it all. These are only fragments. The author does not elaborate at all about what the stories are. If you are interested in Greek mythology, I would recommend something like a collection of stories. They may not be the actual epic poems they are based on, but they are the whole story.
