I really liked the setting of Bailey's farmer's market and meeting many of the vendors inside. Becca Robins, longtime resident of the area, does a booming business selling her homemade jams and preserves from fruits she grows herself. Twice divorced, she has apprehensions about being her friend Linda's maid of honor. When Linda's banker mother-in-law Madeline is found dead, however, Becca and her boyfriend Ian decide a little sleuthing is in order. With a good relationship with a local policeman, Sam Brion, Becca is even able to tag along with Sam on official business. Madeline's varied family members are just crying out to be suspects, as are several townspeople who have been receiving foreclosure notices. This is the second Farmer's show more Market mystery by Shelton and I didn't find that I was too lost by starting here. I look forward to another story set in this South Carolina farmer's market! show less
Excellent book! Excited to see that it is part of a series. I immediately downloaded the rest in the series. Fun mix of mystery, with a nozy farmer/farmer's market vendor who can't leave a crime investigation alone. The characters are interesting and mostly believable. I really like the rural, agricultural setting. Recommended!
I received this book for free as part of the Goodreads first reads program. It was really good. It falls in the cozy mystery category. The setting of a farmer's market was different than other books that I have read. I liked the characters, and the fact that no one in the core group of characters appeared to be mean spirited or a troublemaker. I would like to read more books in this series.
Becca, the main character has a solid relationship with her boyfriend. I liked that he was 10 years younger than her, but nothing was made of the age difference. Her relationship with Sam the police man was also interesting. Not romantic, but appeared to be a true friendship.

Fruit OF All Evil is the third book in the Farmer’s Market series. I found the main characters had been expanded to give more insight as to their personalities. This book is an excellent one for lover’s of Cozy Mysteries. I have the feeling that there are enough new story lines for a few more books. I am ready for the next installment.
This book was just ok for me. The writing and the characters just don't feel real to me, although there were a lot of things I liked about the book. Not sure I'll read the next one.
