Bubbles continues to detect while also being a ditz. Scattered with beauty treatments and moments in hairdressers while also dealing with murder, her teenage daughter, her crazy mother and Steve Stiletto.

When Bubbles and Steve plan a romantic getaway they get drawn into murder when they are called to a coal mine to a press conference and instead of a conference they find a dead body and almost become dead bodies themselves.

It's fun, light, mindless entertainment but is quite readable. Strain is beginning to show in the framework.
Opening Sentence: "...Looking back, I guess my first mistake was to assume that a rookie reporter could persue both a hot story and a hot sex life..."

This is the third book in the series - and I am not sure if I will rush out to buy any more. Lured into an unused Pennsylvania coal mine, Bubbles and her boyfriend, reporter Steve Stiletto, escape a cave-in right after they stumble on the body of car-sales magnate Bud Price. Bubbles's finds the car, but no sign of, her cousin-in-law, "Stinky", the cartographer for McMullen Coal, the company that owns the mine. What has he found - why is he hiding?

Stinky is missing, accused of the murder, and then the plot goes into overkill, more deaths, more disappearances. Bubbles has to deal with a show more group of miners wives who rule the town, the life of her rebellious teenage daughter, her mother's vendetta over some stolen Polish recipes, and someone who wants to kill her.

The plot was overkill!!! It is a slapdash murder mystery - with more slap than dash. It has a ridiculous and highly unbelievable plot - but amazingly it actually kept me hooked all the way through - go figure :)

Still waiting on her big chance to do a hard news story, News-Times and ace hairdresser Bubbles Yablonsky is wearing her new sexy underwear when she gets the fax sending her to an abandoned coal mine. In a matter of moments she's stuck under a mountain with a dead man.

Typical Bubbles fun spiked with beauty recipes and humorous mishaps involving Bubbles, her daughter's boyfriend and the mysterious Slagville Sirens.
I couldn't put this book down! I finished it in two days. My favorite so far. I found it to be a little edgy with that intensity you get from the possibility of danger.
Synopsis: Bubbles gets a fax to show up at a coal mine. Stiletto gets a message to cover a train wreck. They find themselves nearly killed in an explosion in a coal mine. Bubbles chases down leads and finally finds out who is behind the murders, the people trying to clean up the environment and protect the population, and who is out to keep she and Stiletto apart.
Review: Brain candy; fun to read but no real depth. The ending was a bit of a reach and a surprise.
