I don't typically read inspirational books. so it seemed okay as far as a book trying to inspire someone....
But, for me, it came off too "this is what you need to do" instead of openning up the possibility of "how would these things fit within your life".....

Lucado offers a cure for this common life: finding what you're meant to do and being true to who God created you to be...even if it means making changes or completely starting over.
I thought this was a good book, but felt like I should've gotten more out of it. I don't know if I was rushing, or if I was in a weird frame of mind, or if it just wasn't one of his best, but it didn't live up to what I expect of Max Lucado.

I found this very helpful in reviewing who I am and what my personal preferences and work style are. Max, in cooperation with the people from People Management, does a very good job of spelling out the case for understanding how God has wired you and how best to inventory your own traits. The book is very introspective and won't be ideal for those more left-brained individuals who are uncomfortable with this.
A process for discovering your passions and abilities in God's kingdom. This is not a book about introspection. Rather it is an exhortation to review your life history to identify what you've done in the past to understand what you might do well for God in the future. Lucado tells us to take risks and serve through our passions by being faithful at our current jobs while exploring new paths.
The Cure for the Common Life offers sound advice for those seeking to live life in their sweet spot. Lucado gives scriptural instruction as well as a common sense approach to finding your place and purpose in the world. This book seeks to encourage people who are just living to find their abundant life.
I think this is a good book for young people who don't know what they want to do yet or anybody who realizes they have not been in a job that fits them. Also, if you don't know how to serve God in church or other capacities. I wish I had read this when it came out.
It was while reading this book that God spoke to me about our school's theme for 2007. The idea that God knows us intimately - our sins, our evil and depravved hearts yet loves us - and sent His Son to die for us while we were His enemies, was brought to me afresh. He knows me, and in Christ, God has made Himself known.
This is the theme for my school in 2007!
