Description
On a vessel seething with unregulated emotions, Angelique is caught between her regard for Maitre Berne, her master and friend among the La Rochelle Protestants whom she has helped to escape from the king's dragoons, and her fascination for the enegmatic Rescator, pirate and renegade who had bought her for a king's ransom in the slave markets of Candia, only to see her escape into further perils.Tags

I first read this book when I was 20 years old while vacationing abroad in Belgium. I loved it and the rest of series that the authors wrote. I had often thought about this series and hoped to be able to continue it because I had only read the first 3 or so. In 2003, just over 30 years later, I was able to locate the rest of her books on Amazon (the internet is an amazing tool), as used ones. Obviously, the authors' writing and stories stayed in my mind all those years. The book was unique enough and engaging enough to live in my mind all that time. Seargeanne Golon was written by a husband and wife team. Later, after Anne's husband passed away, she continued writing. Her books were translated into English -- she's French and has show more continued her writing, although she is very old now. Her last 3 books of the series are still in French and have not been translated into English. Believe it or not, I purchased them and tried to read them. My French is rudimental at best. This series, if you can get your hands on it is a wonderful historical romance that takes you through history in France, the Mediterranean area, the colonies of North America and Quebec. I loved, loved, loved it. show less

All I can say is. . . finally!
