What could be a better story than a young man who wanted to play football but got drafted to go to Vietnam instead? Bleier related the events of the worse time of his life, and then the best -- winning four Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers. There is probably no better sports story for pluck and good feelings.
Read this while Bleier was still playing for my favorite team, the Steelers. A lot of kids have athletes as role models. Bleier was mine, and still is.
