Moeder Aarde bezwijkt haast onder haar overbevolking. Er worden nieuwe werelden ontdekt en gekoloniseerd.
De naam Murray Leinster is voor SF-fijnproevers een begrip. Zijn wetenschappelijke kennis is werkelijk fenomenaal en evenals Jules Verne laat hij zien hoe een boeiend en menselijk verhaal kan worden gebouwd op gedegen wetenschappelijke fundamenten.
