In this anthology all the stories are connected. Needs to be read from the begining, though each story does stand alone. Mankind is in conflict with the Khalia a almost rat like foe.
Depressing, long winded waste of time. - Except for Anne McCaffrey's contribution.
My favorite story in this collection is The Thirty-Nine Buttons by Margaret Weis. It pressed upon me the importance of buttons. ;)
