-A gripping tale that follows Ann, Betty, their mother Marie, and Mr. McNutt on a nearly disastrous and life-threating journey after an accident occurs while traveling across the frigid wilderness of Alaska. The suspenseful tone mixed with mesmerizing illustrations brings this amazing tale to life and makes the reader fear for the characters’ safety.

This book tells the tell of a woman named Marie and her two young daughters who set out on a long cold and dangerous journey from Alaska to Seattle. The journey starts off with the girls riding a sleigh pulled by horses through Alaska's wide open country side and the girls even face a dangerous accident, but thankfully no one was hurt. The story ends with the women heading back out to finish their journey. The story has great illustrations and also is based on a true story that took place in 1917. The story tells of life in Alaska, the long and dangerous journey, and the love of a mother and her girls.

Wow. This book had me in a suspenseful mood. I won't give details, but I'm glad all was well with the mother and her daughters. To think this book is non-fiction is simply amazing. I don't think a book has impacted me like this in a while.
A family took a journey in the snow. Their wagon was wreck and everyone fell out of it. Two babies were thrown from the wagfon and they had to free one from under the ice, but the other one was still lost. Two travelers found the baby in the basket she was in and it had saved her life.
It would be a decent read aloud, not very exciting.
This book would be good to read to all ages. You could use this book when telling about real life miracles during more recent times, and also about the power of prayer.
Historical fiction, children’s picture books, everybody
Based on a true event in Alaska
