I Did It, I'm Sorry

This is an awesome book and my kids loved it. It consists of a series of small stories ending with a multiple choice question for children to answer. They can then search for the letter (a, b or c) that matches the answer in the picture. An example:

Howie Hogg always enjoys playing with the Straw, Sticks, and Bricks set whenever he goes to Grandma's. He makes some wonderful houses, but all too soon it is time to go. Before he leaves, Howie should make sure to:

a. Tweeze his snout hairs.

b. Clean up his mess.

c. Tell Grandma she lives in a pigsty.

Since the answer is, of course b, the children can then search for the letter b hidden in the picture. It is great fun for them and teaches them good manners in the meantime. Excellent book.

I absolutely loved this book and I will read this book to my child as they grow up and begin to make their own choices and decisions. I loved how the author used various types of animals for different situations. For example, three camels are deciding whether or not they should “stomp on the nomad, and chew up his tent”. After the situation is given, there are three choices given in the book. The reader will choose which decision they will make. I really liked how this book engages the reader and allows the reader to participate. This book is unlike others. The scenario presented on each page is realistic and appropriate for young readers because it deals with real life situations and issues. In the back of the book, the author show more gives the correct answers to double check work. Parents could use this book to work with their young ones in correct decision making. They could also talk about WHY they chose that answer which is good for analyzing and exploring. I Did I, I’m Sorry by Caralyn Buehner and pictures by Mark Buehner. This book is about teaching children different lessons about manners, behavior and much more. The characters in the book are all animal children. This book is about teaching children different life skill lessons. It uses short stories about things like safety, manners and obeying. After the short stories it list three A; B; C answers. You try and it on the children or yourself; of the right thing the character should do. If you are unsure of any answers, you can always find them in the back of the book.

I think this book would be good for first time parents, are ones that have a hard time explaining life skills to their children. I like that it makes young children show more really think, because they have to give an answer.

This book could be used for so many things dealing with behaviors. It is also a good book that deals with life skills. You could also break it down into different social skills like manners, obeying, dependable and many more. show less

Summary:
This is a fantasy book based on teaching good character. Each page gives a different scenario that introduces a new character. You are given three options to choose from to test your character. The correct answer is hidden in the picture.

Personal Reaction:
I liked this book. It would work especially well in the classroom. It gives students the opportunity to see where they stand when it comes to having good character and gives them something to work on.

Classroom Extension:
1. Have each student write on a sheet of paper their honest answers while reading them the book. At the end we could discuss the right answers and why they were the best option.

2. If I had a parent come to me for help with their students behavior issue I would show more send this book home with them to discuss together. show less

SUMMARY-This book is about how to handle certain life situations whether they be good or bad.....

PERSONAL REACTION-This would make a good 3rd grade and up book to have in the classroom and possibly read aloud to the class, they seem to catch on better if you read a book to them. This book teaches some very good ideas and replies to certain types of peer pressures...

CLASSROOM EXTENSIONS-You could use this in a life lesson unit or even in art or drams, have them possibly act out the scenarios in the story.

I thought this was a really neat book because it can teach you some morals in a fun interactive way.

1) You could have the children read the book and quiz them on the right answers.

2) To have the children group up and read through the book together, and try to find the hidden items in the pictures.

This book is full of short, social situations with questions about what the character should do? The reader chooses an answer and checks it by looking for a hidden letter in the illustration. This book teaches appropriate actions and words.
