Just the Way You Are

Just the Way You Are is a story about a group of animals accepting each other for who they are. Some animals don't want to go to a party because they don't like their appearance, but the other animals tell them that they are perfect just the way they are. This book teaches acceptance and that you should be who you are. I think it portrays an important message in a fun and playful way. Teachers could read this book to the class and have each student write one sentence about what they like about their classmates.

Animals speculate if they'd be more interesting if they had the features/attributes of their friends. In the end they realize they are loved just the way they are.

This is a very good book for young children. It is about animals who do not think they are good enough to go the party. They keep saying if they were like another animal then they would be "perfect". Although in the end all the animals come together and realize that they are perfect just the way they are. This book has repetition that students can read aloud with the teacher. This also allows the students to imagine what it would be like to be an animal.
