Description
Jacob's Return is the story of a prodigal son, a forbidden love, and a fanatical preacher. As shocking as it is compelling, Jacob's Return is both uplifting and unforgettable. A wonderful read, this is a universal story about love and faith in impossible circumstances.Jacob Sauder abandons his Amish heritage when the woman he loves, Rachel Zook, agrees to marry his brother, Simon. Though he adapts to the ways of the "English"—even fathering twins—he remains an outsider. When the mother show more of his twins dies, Jacob knows only one way to raise his children—the Amish way. He brings them home to the community he vowed to leave forever. For his children he can do anything, even be strong when he sees Rachel, his love, married to his brother.
Years ago, Simon lied to ensure a future with Rachel Zook as his wife. Now Rachel is barren, a disappointment to him. Unaware of the lie Simon told to drive Jacob away, Rachel believes Jacob abandoned her when he left the Amish community. Shocked when he returns with two-year-old twins, Rachel knows there can be nothing between them, for marriage is a life-long commitment among the Amish. But the twins need a mother and Rachel loves children. As she cares for Jacob's children as if they were her own, her feelings for him deepen into a love that cannot be.

I am torn on this review. While this was a very good book, I did not like the sex 'scenes'. Of course, without them, the story could not be told. Still, I feel the author didn't need to go into any detail, but simply allow the reader to know that Jacob & Rachel made love.
Jacob left home after his mother's funera tellint the 1800's Amish community to go to hell. Now, with a small son and daughter (twins) he has returned, saying that the Amish world was where he wanted to raise his children. Rachel, the love of his life, has married Jacob's brother, Simon, but both feel the attraction that is still between them. When Simon suspects that the couple are having an affair, he vows that the sinners will pay.
This is not your typical Amish show more fiction, but it is well written and the reader will be kept on the edge of their seat as to what happens next. show less

Jacob returns to the Amish after living with the English for several years. Before he left the fold he was in love with Rachel. Jacob was convinced that Rachel was not in love with him, so he left. Jacob's brother, Simon ends up marrying Rachel. He is not good to her. He only wanted her because his brother loved her. When Jacob returns Rachel leans on Jacob for support as her marriage is falling apart ans Simon is abusive. Rachel becomes pregnant with Jacob's child and they both know, it becomes known they will be banned from the Amish and shunned.
