“The Ant Bully” written by John Nickle is a great story, with a message about bullying. The story introduces a young boy, Lucas, who is always bullied by Sid; Lucas is tired of being bullied, so he starts bullying the ants in his yard. The ants did not like Lucas, so the Queen ant started making Lucas work off his debt and shrunk him to the size of an ant. After Lucas completed his chores, the Queen returned him to his human size, and to Lucas’ delight, shrunk Sid. This is a great story and is appropriate for all ages because of the message about bullying.
Summary: This book is about a boy who’s being bullied so he starts bullying ants. The ants turn him small and he gains their respect, so the ants turn the kids bully small. The moral of the story is that the ant bully learned to respect his tormentees and they helped him.
Opinion: This book wasn’t super exciting. It’s got a great moral, so maybe if it was read the right way it would be entertaining. I loved the 50’s lettering and illustrations.

Lucas is picked on by the neighborhood bully, and in turn terrorizes the ant colony. The ants create a potion that shrinks Lucas to the size of an ant. They put him on trial, and find him guilty of crimes against the colony -- his sentence? To live and work as an ant! Lucas learns about teamwork and the importance of friendship--and in the end, he saves the colony and is returned to his normal size.
A mean bully finds out what it is like to get picked on by someone bigger than you. Great book about a boy who becomes ant size and learns to see the world from a new perspective.
In this book, a young boy learns that though he is bullied by someone bigger than him, he still had no right to bully others that were somaller than him. In other words, "do unto others the way you would have them do unto you". Also, the book teaches much about ants and how they live and survive, and how they will not bother you unless you bother and threaten them and their habitat first.
This book taught a good message. It was about this boy named Lucas who was a bit of a nerd. Lucas was always being bullied by another boy named Sid. Sid would always spray Lucas with the water hose so Lucas started bullying the ants. The ants got tired of Lucas spraying them with water so they forced him into the ant hole to talk to the queen. The book goes on to tell how the queen gave Lucas some shrinking potion and make him work of his debt with the worker ants.

I like this illustrations of this book a tad better than the story, although the plot is interesting.
