I'm glad Carriger's writing since this story from 1998 has drastically improved, because My Sister's Song is overwhelmingly infodumpy and not at all compelling. ( )

Synopsis: Mithra is a warrior for their tribe, and she understands that to protect her village from a superior force is going to take brains rather than strength. The Romans have a huge force, but they also have a taste for honey - what they don't know is that this honey has some properties that will kill them. Mithra uses this to protect her village.
Review: Interesting story from a different perspective. ( )

A different genre of sorts for Carriger, straight-forward young adult fantasy, but still well-written. ( )

You've got to love such a clever, historical tale as this. Defeating the Romans for the win. ( )
