So sweet, and educational.  I would have loved this when I was a little girl.  There are a variety of birds drawn so very clearly, field guide style... but embedded in the text and not presented textbook style.  The words are very simple, too - a child could use this as a primer (early reader), if she read it over and over again.  Of course it's a bit old-fashioned, and all the children are white & healthfully plump, but still, if you see this in a thrift store as I did, I recommend you grab it for the little ones you love.
Summary:
A book about different birds with realistic drawings of the birds and how they might appear in the lives of the children in the book. Each bird is drawn and named on the page with the text describing how the birds live, eat and do other things in life. One page has eggs of many species drawn to specific colors and sizes. On another page, the skeleton of a bird is drawn. Even though this book is older it has great information and the wonderful drawings of Eloise Wilkin.

Review:
A book that I simply adore it is the begining of the little golden books for children. I love Eloise Wilkin's drawings of children and nature and she does a stunning job depicting realistic birds and their habitats. A great book for young readers and listeners.
