A bit unrealistic and the writing didn't grab me right away, but this short story packed plenty of warmth and holiday comfort. The relationship was rushed but genuinely sweet with some fun family moments, and more importantly it treated the struggle of grief during the holidays well. There was a particularly moving scene where a family opened up about past pain and started the first step toward healing through bonding and remembering the good instead of just the agony of loss. Can't forget the funny moments with various Snowmen as well - if only a proposal I received ended up so creative.
Even though I read this during the non-holiday season, that snow does not fall here, and that I don't really like 'homemaker shows' (the comparisons with my own abode is frightening!) I truly enjoyed this.
Things happened very rapidly (but that wasn't a bad thing) and I suppose I see this as more of an interlude in the protagonists lives. They may well develop something permanent and wonderful and this is the first stage of their journeyi.e. I personally think their engagement after knowing each other for a week was way too soon and I hope it's a REALLY long engagement) .
Bssically this was a nice quick bedtime read.

This was a very fun read and a charming romance. Little unusual in that both characters are in their 30s; one being a single mother. Lexi is an up-and-coming Martha Stewart type, only with less bitch and more warmth. Kyle is an author of a popular children’s mystery series, and the Bah, Humbug of the title. His ice e is quickly thawed by the fire of Lexi’s personality.
My only gripe with this novella is the compression of the romance into such a short timeframe. A week before Christmas, new neighbors Lexi and Kyle are fighting over her snowman that he has dismembered. On Christmas Day, he is proposing marriage, and she is accepting, with the full approval of both their families.

Well, I guess it was a cute story, but...there was no real character development. It was too short - everything in the novel happens over the course of about a week. And the things that do happen - between complete strangers AND their families - is just...I don't know. Now, I don't mean anything untoward happened. This is a nice, clean story, which I like. But, come on. The ending was a little contrived and I found myself rolling my eyes - which is not easy to do while reading at the same time, by the way.
However, if you like happily-ever-after-no-matter-what-or-how-soon-it-comes and a quick read, this one might be for you.

Feel good Christmas romance with a focus on family. Very sappy and cutesy but what I was in the mood for. Lexi and Kyle were kind of drab. I can't say I really liked or cared about either of them but the romance was sweet and I enjoyed that Kyle ruined her front yard snowman in order to figure out the logistics of his book plot. And I liked the idea of a gun hidden in a snowman. I doubt I'll continue with the series - none of the other books grab my attention. But this one was alright. 2.5 stars.
So this is a little Hallmarky, too much sugar. I mean the hero is thinking about marrying the heroine after knowing her for two days. But, I still kinda liked it. It has some heart and charm to it.
A light-hearted and frothy Christmas romance. Easy reading novella that is well written and fun - great for a short read, but I did feel that there was a lot packed into it, especially the last few pages that I felt were a bit rushed. This could have done with being a bit longer, and I feel the story would have benefited from this as it seemed that the proposal came out of nowhere.
Aside from that, it had great characters and I found it fun. I certainly wouldn't be averse to reading more from Heather Horrocks.
