Description

Emma's idea of a good vacation is quite different from that of her parents.

The third book about Emma doesn't warm me quite the way its predecessor, Emma's Pet, does but the bear cub is still charming. Emma finds the sightseeing that her parents plan on the family vacation exhausting and suggests they enjoy the rural setting instead. I'm not sure why the publisher chose to eliminate the picture of Emma on her stomach looking at a map from the board book (it could have been placed on the backcover instead of repeating a picure from the story) but is otherwise comparable to the original hardcover and therefore quite worthwhile for toddler hands.

The first book my daughter "read". Great illustrations and simple writing convey the humor of Emma the bear's family vacation. Conveys the importance of time together rather than an action- packed trip.
I agree 100% with Emma. I do not consider visiting a big city or a tourist town a good vacation. Give me a town with strong community spirit, or a comfortable cabin outside of town, any day.
