A Gift!
This book is a gift given by the author to the reader. It is full of exquisite romance, passion-filled exchanges and quirky little quips and phrases that are exactly what we love about Ty and Zane.
"Less talky, Zane,"
"I don't think I've ever been gayer than I am right now."
"Come on, Zane, don't be scared of a little pussy,"
_____________________
"This was like National Lampoon's Vacation, but with death, property destruction, and an Irish accent."
The Adventure: is twisted and involved enough to keep the reader on their toes and not really seeing what is to come. Plus, what's not to love about putting four gay men in a car, on a road-trip of sorts who on some level all despise or at least don't trust each other. It's great fun show more to see what will happen.

Even the personality of the cats ring through - "Smith and Wesson both sat down in the opening to bedroom, ready to enjoy the show".
The Characters: are all just perfect, well developed and likeable/loveable. We read this series because we are in love with Ty and Zane but the development of the secondary characters (and all of their traits) are what bring the story into the realm of "all-time favorites". Julian's epic Alpha-suaveness, Cameron's vulnerability and Preston's aloof perfection are qualities you want to explore more.
I've noticed some readers not caring for Cameron but I have to say his character is just one of my favorites. I think it is because he is me. He brings a 'normal human element into this story of 'super-perfect-cool-spy-guys that let's me identify with and allows me "into" the story. I love that!

The Writing: is quick paced, immediately gripping and doesn't slow down...except where you want it to. The very best thing about this book for me was the amount of dialog. There was plenty of visual orientation, I never felt like I couldn't see what was going on but it was the deep and heartfelt exchanges and the quick, quirky comebacks that just drove this on. So often when I read I get bogged down in side character dialog though and the author is incredibly astute in keeping that from happening. There were glimpses of third-party elements essential to the story that came through perfectly clearly but did not slow the story down. Thank you!
So again, I say that this book was a gift from Abigail Roux to her readers. Probably in reparation for what she did to them at the end of book 4, but a gift nonetheless.
I gladly give this book 5 stars and the accolade of, "I can't wait for the next one".

The bad thing about having to read this series out of order is that the next book takes up right where the last one left off. Since I’ve read out of order for ages this really doesn’t both me much but it will drive some readers right over the cliff. With that warning having been issued…the two agents are back and their handlers have assigned them a task that may get them all killed and worse yet the man that Ty Grady has known since he was born…may have signed the orders that will carry that out. We meet a couple of new characters in this one that will carry over into future books and both are very likable plus they own two huge orange Maine Coon cats ..."Smith & Wesson”. Cat ownership makes them seem a bit more humane and one show more of them less likely to be a killer. As I’ve said before, the series is not for everyone. This episode is a journey which pits the FBI against the CIA...Now why don’t I find that hard to believe is a big dose of reality??? show less
*Update - Reread 2/13/15*
Finally Ty and Zane are on board and have come to an understanding. The satisfying result is explosively hot, tender, and intense. This was probably the best entry in showcasing how in sync these two are with each other and why they are perfect partners in and out of bed!
I would love to say that all the cards are on the table and they have nothing to hide but that isn't the case. And I have to be honest, I flinched a bit regarding Ty, knowing what I do now. Obviously his sense of duty is strong and we all know the consequences and repercussions of how this plays out. One wonders if Zane too has some big reveals in the final chapter.
I recommend reading [b:Warrior's Cross|6782412|Warrior's Cross|Madeleine show more Urban|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1355864076l/6782412._SX50_.jpg|6916543] first to get background history on the supporting characters Julian and Cameron. These two are the perfect foil to our MC's. As always, it amazes me when witnessing the strength of Ty and Zane's feelings for each other, and I continue to marvel at these two uber tough, alpha men showing their softer sides. In essence this had plenty of action, seriously scorching smex, and continuous swoon worthy moments - all of which should satisfy and keep you coming back for more!

Ok, so I just gotta say it probably again I'm sure (I don't remember what I wrote in previous reviews). This series just keeps getting better and better!!
Not only do we get the objects of my fantasies Ty & Zane, but we also get the amazing duo of Cameron and Julian from Warrior's Cross. It's like an amazing super group, like 2 of your favorite bands teaming up for the concert of the decade, ya know.
Ty & Zane continuously grow deeper and deeper in their relationship throughout this series. We have witnessed it from it's first spark to a full-blown flame. Lust has turned to love. We go in knowing that they are in love.
-"I was always yours" "Because..you make me the kind of person I've always wished I was."
-"Because you gave me direction show more when I was lost. You showed me the way." "You're like my very own compass."
We've seen them have some great sex, but in this book we get our first "making love" scene.
So Zane and Ty are sent to bring in Julian as a witness and of course Cameron is a tag along. The amount of sexiness, silliness and action is perfect.
Of course, the path ahead of them is full of problems. It's always something.
Ty has some of the best lines ever.
-"I don't think I've ever been gayer than I am right now."
And Ty and Cameron together...
-"What about the animals?" "Who the hell needs this many dogs anyway?"
"What's wrong with being a pet owner?"
"Yeah, you pronounced 'hoarder' wrong."
This is an excellent read from beginning to end. As always I'm looking forward to the next book in the series about my men. show less

4,5 stars
I adored this book! By far my favorite in the series - and I say it already having read until Touch & Geaux-.
It's is a lot more enjoyable if one has previously read Warrior's Cross, since it's a terrific sequel for that book.
To me, only two small things separate it from a score of 5 stars:
* The key in the mouth of Ty when he and Nick manage to escape of their captivity. However much Nick is who tell it, the fact that there is not not even a slight trail of how Ty provided himself with that key converts the resolution of the problem in something magic. And I don't like "magic" solutions or without logic in realistic contexts.
* The sex scene at Gettysburg Hotel? Longer than necessary, to the point that I found myself wishing show more its ending.
Anyway a book packed with action and humor with some truly hilarious moments.
And that absolutely delicious twist in the plot toward the ending? Priceless! show less

I really liked this one. I read [b:Warrior's Cross|6782412|Warrior's Cross|Abigail Roux|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1355864076s/6782412.jpg|6916543] recently, so I was familiar with Julian and Cameron and their story, but I have to say I enjoyed Julian a lot more here. I’m not if that was from his snarky attitude (and his snarking with Ty) or just a byproduct of listening to the Audio (versus just reading).
This book has plenty of opportunities for everyone to show their badassery. We’ve got what starts out as a simple retrieval assignment, then turns into Ty and Zane escorting Julian and Cameron to DC (with Julian trying to escape at every opportunity). Julian and Ty pretty much hate each other on sight, which leave lots of room show more for amusement, just based on their personality traits alone. Plus there’s the people trying to prevent them from making it to DC.
I absolutely *loved* the animal metaphors. I want a t-shirt now that says “I’m an Elephant.” Of course, no one would probably get the reference, but alas…
Along the way, they have need of an alternate route, and this brings Nick O’Flaherty into the picture. This, as one could imagine, was a complicated little endeavor. On the one hand, Nick is TY’s oldest friend, on the other Zane is still pretty pissed off about that little kiss that happened in the last book.
However, this new encounter with Nick allows Zane and Nick time to talk, without Ty, which I think is important. It allows Nick to apologize, and for him to explain some things (both about his general history with Ty and about their shared history as POW’s). This is an emotional bloodletting, mainly because Zane hates the idea of anything that cause hurt to tie, but it also gives us a new understanding of Nick.
I had gathered (just from what little had been said in the previous book) that their experience as POW’s and his sense of loss had affected his actions previously (as well as the alcohol), but this definitely explained it a lot more. I still feel that his actions were highly disrespectful of Zane and the relationship Ty had with him (but since he really had no reason to respect Zane as a person, aside from as Ty’s partner), plus with the addition of the alcohol, he probably didn’t have as many inhibitions or control. So, I’ll let it go.
The case is resolved, Julian and Cameron can go off and do whatever, though I’m a little bit sad at Preston’s outcome, though he didn’t seem too put out by it.
I was happy to see Ty and Zane make the decision to move in together, but I cautiously curious what this might mean for both their job’s and their families (well Ty’s anyway, as far as I can tell Zane doesn’t have much contact with anyone but his sister).
