But Kitt notices something different about this new rash of killings—a tiny variation that suggests a copycat killer may be re-creating the show more original 'perfect crimes.' Then the unthinkable happens. The Sleeping Angel Killer himself approaches Kitt with a bizarre offer: he will help her catch his copycat.
Kitt must decide whether to place her trust in a murderer—or risk falling victim to a fiend who has taken the art of the perfect murder to horrific new heights. Thriller. Fiction. show less

Five years ago, Kitt Lundgren's world shattered; her daughter slowly died of pediatric cancer, her marriage fell apart, she fell into the bottle, and a serial killer terrorized her town. Blowing the Sleeping Angel Kiler case could have cost Kitt her career, but she's recovered, and now, he's back, or is he? Though the new murders resemble the SAK, there are anomalies, and what's more, the original SAK has called Kitt to tell her that the new cases are a copycat, one he resents and wants her to end. Working with a partner who distrusts her and is not happy to be secondary on the case to Kitt's primary is not ideal, nor is facing her own demons on multiple levels, but Kitt manages. With each death, things get more personal, and people show more outside the victim pool start dying as well. Just as Kitt's on the ragged edge, things truly get interesting. The key to this tense serial killer thriller that makes for a fresh entry is the dysfunctional relationship between the two female detectives. The story line is action-packed from start to finish yet readers see deep inside Kitt and M.C. to see what motivates each of them. The final twist will stun the appreciative audience. Never in a million years will you guess the ending or see it coming. show less
This is the second Spindler book I've read in a week and I can't get enough of her incredible stories! This gripping narrative focuses on the life of Detective Kitt Lundgren and how her world falls apart when a case begins to take over her life. 5 years later, the Sleeping Angel Killer returns, although not without reason to believe the police may be dealing with a copycat. When Kitt forms a relationship with someone claiming to be the original SAK, no area of her life will go unturned as she and her partner race to discover the truth before more children die. Brilliant! Am starting the next Kitt Lundgren today!
"Copy Cat" is a fast-paced thriller and kept me riveted. I especially enjoyed how every character was flawed - you won't find perfection here. Spindler keeps the reader guessing, along with her protagonists, who the killer is. When the protagonists think they are on the right track, so does the reader. When the protagonists are wrong, the reader has to re-think all the clues. The ending was slightly rushed, but it made sense. I sped through the last few chapters. I couldn't put the book down until I discovered the mystery.
Erica Spindler does it again! I think this is the best book she has written, so far! I really enjoyed the characters, they had such depth, especially Kitt, and the killer. I also enjoyed the working relationship between Kitt and MC, and am glad the became friends. I enjoyed the whole story from start to finish, it was well thought out, with tons of suspense and plot twists. I was not shocked as to who the copycat killer was, but was shocked with who the original killer turned out to be. Excellent, excellent book! I really hope we see Kitt and MC in future novels.
A lovely suspense story. Read the book in one night. It was fun to read.
