The author details the ways in which people ignore the truth, twist the truth, or otherwise avoid critical thinking. In a world of "alternative facts" and "fake news", this book has some useful guidelines for how to spot fakery. The main complaint is that it is sort of superficial, choosing a few topics and dealing with them without the depth or insight of other works. The author focuses strongly on what can be found in a couple of minutes on the internet to evaluate the value of a claim; reams of work that exist both within and without cyberspace could have given him the depth he so badly needed. Still, it operates at the level where most Americans prefer their information, and could be valuable as a breezy introduction to a complex topic. If it gets people interested in digging deeper, that would be great, too. A couple of strange errors, but no howlers that make you drop the book as though burned. ( ) no reviews | add a review
