Hard Mated is one of my favourite stories of the series so far (second only to Pride Mates). Spike is tough, tattooed Jaguar shifter who unexpectedly finds out he has a four-year-old son that he never knew about. His son, Jordan, was a result of a brief fling with a human woman who never told him she fell pregnant. Now his son’s mother is dying and wants him to take custody of the child.

Spike and Myka (a friend of Jordan’s mother) make a great couple and I really enjoyed their story and how they built a strong, loving family around Jordan.

5/5 stars.

Nice addition to the series. I wish it had been longer and the relationship could have been filled out much more for our enjoyment. I really liked the hero who everyone thought was just a big thug but the heroine saw through immediately. I do think that if you haven't read any of the others in the series you would be pretty lost here.

Jordan, the little wild cat, steals the heart of his unknown father. Instant pride and love fill the self deprecating Spike when he meets his son for the first time. Myka, the human that loves and wants to protect her best friends child from more hurt and loss is along for the ride.
This is a delightful book that stirs the heart. The characters touch the heart of the reader. As a mom, I know what spit fires can do to those not used to them. Jordan takes the cake, tempting fate as he’s learning about his new family. Myka loves Jordan, not only because of the loss of his mother, she genuinely cares for the boy, spirit and all. She’s very protective of the little one. Spike, learns that he’s a dad at Jordan’s mother’s death bed. show more The bond he feels with the child is instantaneous.
Myka and Spike’s bond develops, but not just because of the child. They have more in common than one would think being human and shifter.
This is a light read that is so carefully woven. You don’t want to put it down. I read it in one afternoon and was left wanting to know more about the characters, especially the trials of raising Jordan. I’m sure he’s going to be a handful! show less

5 Stars ~ Hard Mated (Shifters Unbound #3.5) by Jennifer Ashley

Every since book one Pride Mates I have been waiting for Spikes story. I really wanted him to get a full length book, but Hard Mated turned out wonderful and I’m happy with the novel. I love the Shifters Unbound sereis by Jennifer Ashley. She makes you want to have a big tuff loving shifter of your own.
I also read Hard Mated as part of the Dark and Dangerous, Six-in-One Hot Paranormal Romances Boxed Set.

Spike, a wildcat Shifter and the champion fighter of Shiftertown. Will have his world turned upside down by a little human women and son/cub he never new he had.

Myka, who’d been raised by an abusive stepfather will do anything to protect the little cub and make sure that show more the wild fighter who is his father will be a good fit.
Both will learn to protect and love each other and the little cub.

Spike is just so darn sexy. I’ll take a tattoo, harley riding, sexy shifter any day. The story is a fun easy romantic read! Myka is perfect for Spike, they complement each other and their love making was hot and sensual. The world that Jennifer Ashley creates is believable and her shifters are more then just animals they are loving caring beings who will do anything for the ones they deem worthy to love.

Liked this one better than Bodyguard... but I don't think I like it enough to investigate more of the series.

Spike and Myka come together when the mother of a child he didn't know he had is dying and wants him to have his cub. Myka doesn't want to let the boy go at first but quickly changes her mind. Their attraction was a bit fast for me.

man, please. this book is fantastic. go forth and read.
