His Ring is Not Enough
3.5 Stars

When her sister Rachel leaves her fianće, Ajax Kouras, at the alter, Leah Holt agrees to marry him in her stead in order to save her father's company. For Leah this is no real hardship as she has always loved Ajax from afar, but will she be able to convince him that it is her and not her sister that he truly loves...

Given the awkward premise, this is a surprisingly entertaining read primarily due to the chemistry between Leah and Jax (yes, the biblical allusions of Rachel, Leah and Jacob were not lost on me ...)

The details of Jax's dark past and his guilt and remorse add an interesting layer of nuance to his character and transform an otherwise stereotypical broody male into a more multi-dimensional hero.

Leah is a likable character, and it is entertaining to see her take the reins and come into her own. That said, she is a bit too "doormatty" for my tastes for most of the book.

Overall, a satisfying read and it will be interesting to read the companion book to see why Rachel jilted Jax (I really hope she has a good reason as heroines who behave in this way are a turn-off). ( )

I think this author is officially not for me. I've tried several of hers and just no. This one while it had an interesting premise was almost painful to read. It was almost entirely wallowing around in the thoughts of the hero and heroine. Page after page of saying the same things over and over and over.

Also as I have noted before with this author there is a lack of concrete details in the book that just doesn't work for me.

" 2 out of 5 stars, this novel is about a lost soul getting married to his fiancée’s sister because of a snafu that happens right before the wedding and them coming to terms with their new life together..."

Disappointing story with OTT angst-ridden hero and heroine. The premise that Leah will step in when her sister Rachel bails on her wedding day, is far-fetched, in spite of/because of her long-held crush on the hero. Great chemistry and lush settings redeem the unbelievable aspects somewhat. ( )
