This really made me wish I was reading Batman and this entire event, but I got the gist of it and it was dark and cool. The Teen Titans part of it was kind of normal, teens not yet trained, worried about messing up and then messing up, and also flirting. ( )

Been there, done that. Some nice moments with the Bat kids. ( )

I think I am at the point of saturation with the Death of the Family storyline; also this book repeats a couple of the stories from other books. Still a good story and art. ( )

I already read the Death of the Family arc in the Batman series, and the story seemed to have full closure in that graphic novel, but since I am also reading (slowly) the Teen Titans, I read the continuation of Joker's tyranny in this series. We see a bit of Joker when the story focuses on Robin, kidnapped by Joker and forced to battle his friend, Red Hood. When Robin thwarts his plans by not fighting to the death, Joker knocks them out and brings them to the dinner table which is the climax of his showdown with Batman. This is a truly disturbing moment, but I already read it in the Batman graphic book collection, so it was more of a reskim for me. The rest of the story actually followed the other members of the team, Robin's Titans, as they track him down to Gotham in hopes of rescuing him. They don't actually manage that, though, as they are instead snared in one of Joker's many subplots, and have to be rescued by Red Hood's team. Crossover! I enjoyed this story line of them fending off Joker-gassed homeless folk and trying to find an antidote. Honestly, this was much less horrifying than the main Joker story, which I found depressing. Eventually, the Titans are reunited with their Robin and return to find that he has bought them a new luxury boat for their base. This collection of comics ends on a nice creepy note, as we see Robin hitting on all the girls on his team, and then spying on everyone from his headquarters with red glowing eyes. What? A nice way to build suspense for the next arc. I enjoyed this graphic book, but wasn't blown away. I am mostly just glad that the Joker arc is over - and I usually like the Joker stories, but meh, this was too intense for the light reading I was looking for. ( )

I had trouble with the back and forth Between Red Robin, Batman, The Teen Titans, and then what ? More characters jump into this super hero jumble. I like book with more focus and an at least somewhat obvious tie in with the other story it's supposed to mix with. I just did not get that here.
The art work was just above average. ( )
