Great biography book for children! Some of the paragraphs are a bit choppy and sometimes don't always seem to fit but are added because it was a part of his life. I would prefer if the paragraphs and sentences flowed more easily and better, but it is still a good biography book nonetheless.
Continuing our way through the "Who Was...?" series with my son. This book again shows the series' ability to be age-appropriate, but to also offer honest appraisals of their subjects. I was particularly impressed by the details of Kennedy's pre-Presidential life.
As you should know John F. Kennedy was the 35th president of the united states. Serving one term and was suppose to serve a second. Mr. Kennedy was born in 1917 on May 29. John was born into a wealthy family known as the Kennedys. The Kennedy family were all pretty successful. When John was a kid, he went to the choate school and Harvard. In which he never ever flunked since he was so smart. Shortly after he graduated Harvard he decided to head to the U:S Marines. While in the navy his got hit by a Japanese ship that killed two sailors and badly injured john and he led the other survivors in the ship out safely which earned him a medal. In 196 Joun decided to run for U.S. House of Representatives since he was a war hero and his last show more name was Kennedy he won with a breeze. JFK hated being congress since it was dull and he really didn't have power to make an impact. In 1952, seeking greater influence and a larger platform, Kennedy challenged Republican incumbent Henry Cabot Lodge for his seat in the U.S. Senate. Also as your probably guessed it he won. After he won the election he went out to celebrate but ended up meeting his future wife Jacky Kennedy. A couple of years kate and John decides to run for office. JFK won the presidential election but it was close since people didn't think he was ready because of his age. JFK did big things in his presidency until it was cut short. On Nov 22 JFK was assassinated at a parade. His killer later was assassinated.

From this book, I would give it four stars. I would give it a five if there were more details in the book. Like for example what kind of impact the JFK's assassination or presidency have on America. Overall JFK did pretty good for his years in office at a really young age. Also, the book gives you facts that some people don't know like I didn't know JFK went to Harvad university.

Learn about the life of America’s 35th president. Read up about the early years that shaped John F. Kennedy. Learn about his World War II experience that changed him forever on PT-109 and his battle to survive in the Pacific Theater of the war. His career in politics and his presidency that was cut short by his assassination in November of 1963. This biography book was a book that is an easy read for elementary students. The book has several illustrations that help bring the story to life. The book is very easy and doesn’t throw out too much information, but only highlights important information about the life of one of our nation’s greatest presidents. This book along with the series, Who was and Who is…, are all part a wax show more museum assignment that the SLMS has students do. Students read a book from the series, create a report on the person and then do a presentation on that person. show less
