An excellent introduction to Gramsci. This work gives a good all round view of the man and his work.
It is not the author's, or even Gramsci's fault that the world has moved on a hundred years from the time in which he was writing. I am sure that the idea of man's increasing domination of nature was a sound one just after the First World War but, of course, as we race towards the middle years of the twenty-first century, it ha become obvious that our taking from nature needs to be curtailed.
Gramsci did, in other ways, predict many of the problems of the current era and have much to tell us.
