Why do I always forget this is such a kickass series???!!!
It takes me forever to start the next instalment and then I pretty much devour it. Afterwards, I'm like, must read the next book sooner aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I forget.
Granted, there are a lot of good books out there but omg! If you like all things supernatural with a kickass heroine, you really need to read this series! Oh and while there is a lot of sex in this instalment, it's not very graphic, so go ahead and pick it up!

While I really liked the book, there were some things that disappointed me a bit. One thing was the pacing: things went from a normal pace to a rollercoaster, the end. It just felt so sudden, without some much-needed answers. But hey, now we have another show more very very evil bad guy on the loose gunning for Riley. Hope he will bring more to the table.
Another were the characters we met, Berna and Nerida. I'm still trying to find out how they fit in the whole picture and what added value they brought. Oh, and what's with being nude, the whole time?
And last, Riley's growing abilities, she seems to master them pretty quickly even though they are new. How could Quinn or Jack not pick up on those, being the better psychics? It just left a lot of question marks in my head.

But all in all, it really was another great book, honestly! Quinn and Riley are so good together, I have high hopes for them, though that would also mean that her wish for a family won't come true :( ... but still, team Quinn!

My Thoughts: Jumped right into this book when I finished the second in the series because for some reason I just can't get enough of Riley.

Spoiler Warning: Due to a controversial scene in the book where many readers want to be told about it I'm including a spoiler within my review. I will not give away pertinent plot twists or anything like that but continue with caution.

What Worked: Even though I find Riley very flawed I'm enjoying her immensely. She rarely jumps into trouble without thinking first and I have yet to label her TSTL (if you've read any of my reviews in the past you know this is a major issue I have with many heroines.) Her abilities stemming from her being a Dhampir are notable as are her growing psychic talents. I can't wait to see what is in store for those! What also worked was the ending of a 3 book underlying plot thread. I don't think I would have continued on with a 4th book if the DNA/Cloning plot thread had not ended.

What Didn't Work: While undercover, Riley was given the choice to wear clothes or not while in the Starr complex. She opted to run around naked. As a werewolf she has very few inhibitions but as a reader I found it really weird. Perhaps if I were a nudist it wouldn't have felt so awkward but as I'm not I couldn't get that point to flow well while reading. In addition to the nudism what also didn't work was there is yet another instance of rape in this book. Poor Riley gets knocked out and finds the man she figured she'd have to sleep with to get info from has actually been having sex with her unconscious body for hours. Once again Riley is barely phased other than complaining about how sore she was. I really hope this isn't going to be a trend in these books because even though Riley isn't crying rape that is exactly what happened.

In a Nutshell: Despite what didn't work, I thought, once again, the positives outweighed the negatives. My recommendation, as with the other two books in this series, is to ignore the sex and focus on the action. That is really where this book shined for me. A kick butt woman and some serious nail biting action.

Eeep if Kissing Sin was exciting for foreshadowing of the final situation this is even better. There's a hint regarding Quinn, we get to meet Dia, and Riley has officially joined the guardians and is getting sucked into all that means.

This was an exciting read. It took place over a very intense period of time so the action just swept me along (until I found that I'd stayed up a lot later than intended to finish it).

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the rest of the series...soon...hopefully.
I surprisingly really enjoyed this one. I think if you were to compare he first book to this one, you would be able to tell that the writing is vastly improving. This one was very organized. Where as the first one not so much. The first two books in he series I had taken as a joke. But in Tempting Evil, it wasn't a joke to me.

What I mean by this, is all of the situations had a real feeling to them. I actually felt sad for Riley at times. Where as the first two didn't have that same feeling of connection to the character. I am definitely going to continue this series, and hope it keeps getting better.
It's funny how these books always take me a minute to get into them, but once I do I whip right through the book. It's interesting that one of the biggest enemies of Riley and Co. is taken out, and yet this is a long lasting series, haha but alas there is a nice little zinger at the end, which bodes for a much more evil nemesis than before. This book was filled with alot, alot of things for Riley to do, alot of questionings on many different thing. The one hang up I have on Riley is her need for sex, I understand she's a wolf and is alays needing sex, but still the way this woman desires sex I think is beyond the need for a wolf, and really it's not the sex that bothers me, that's pretty intriguing on it's own, it's her desire to find a show more wolf mate, she thinks purely wolf when she isn't a pure wolf she's a halfbreed wolf/vamp, so her hang up on the wolf soulmate is kind of far fetched in my opinion, but we shall see how things progress with that in future books. show less
Listened to audio narrated by Angela Dawe.Riley has begun her Guardian training, something she never wanted to do in order to hunt down those responsible for hunting and experimenting on her, her brother and other non humans. This is an ongoing arc, where some things will get resolved, other story elements are still being worked through. Riley and Quinn are still a work in progress, while others remain in Riley's orbit. Riley is developing new skills, which help her on her undercover mission. Werewolf sensibilities are definitely different than human ones and some of the choices Riley makes and the explicit nature of the book may leave some readers feeling uncomfortable. The ending leaves you thankful for the parts that are resolved and show more wanting to grab the next book to continue Riley and friends stories. show less
There's a *lot* of non-con going on in this series. It's somewhat made up for - at least for me, where non-con gets my hackles up - by having a pretty darn decent world build.
