Suspense, romance and ALL the elements to keep you spell bound. I admit it. I was held Captive by J.R. Ward! I loved the mc's, Paradise & Craeg. I loved the insights into Butch & Marissa's relationship. I loved everything about this one! I am tingling with anticipation for book two in the new series Black Dagger Legacy! Blood Kiss By J. R. Ward Book #1 Black Dagger Legacy I can’t say that I liked this book as much as previous Black Dagger Brotherhood books. By the looks of it this is actually kind of a spinoff series called Black Dagger Legacy. I can’t really put my finger on just what bothered me about this book but it just didn’t seem as deep as the other books. Maybe I was annoyed that J. R. Ward revisited Butch and Marissa’s relationship which I thought was supposed to have ended in Happy Ever After but they seemed to be in some kind of rut which just blew my fairy tale ending. Naïve of me, I know. I liked the new characters but they are all extremely young compared to all the other Black Dagger Brotherhood characters who have tortured pasts to make them badass. I don’t know how the new characters can compare. This book focused on Craeg and Paradise, two new recruits who are training to become part of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. By the looks of the next book called The Beast, it looks like J. R. Ward is going to revisit Rage also so this might be a theme throughout this spinoff series. I’m not sure I know how I feel about that. I don’t even know if this is a true spinoff series. It’s more of a continuation with a twist. I also wonder what happened to the story of the Band of Bastards. I want to know what happens between Layla and Xcor. And what is Throe up to? Despite not appreciating this as much as other BDB books, I still enjoyed it enough to continue reading the series. I mean, it is a kickass series…one that all other paranormal romances compare themselves to. I actually am looking forward to The Beast. www.paranormalromanceslut.com no reviews | add a review

HTML:The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continues in this gripping spin-off series from #1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward. Paradise, blooded daughter of the kingâ??s First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhoodâ??s training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself...be herself. Itâ??s a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and itâ??s very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch Oâ??Neal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life. And thatâ??s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipatedâ??and left wondering whether sheâ??s strong enough to claim her own power.
