Prophet introduces a new gunslinger to the bounty hunters already after Penelope. The Silicone Kid enhances his fast draw and aim with homemade implants. But how will they do against the likes of the Injun and the Whistler? We do get the showdown we have been waiting for and a make-you-say-hmm explanation of the future Penelope wants to create.

Michael Resnick was a pro, and the Penelope Bailey series is some of his best work.
I really enjoyed this book. Resnick has a good reputation and this book lived up to it. Its not heavy scifi loaded with social issues, but it is good classic scifi. Sort of a cross between Foundation and Vance's Demon Princes and Dune. Far in the future, FTL travel has spread humanity far and wide, resulting in a sort of 'wild west' frontier atmosphere on many planets, including heroes and gunslingers with colorful names and wide reputations. This is the story of a conflict between some of them - a religious leader, a famous gunman and a prophet that can see the future. The third in a series.
A nice space western through the galaxy - Penelope Bailey is a believable character, the Iceman is is a great anti-hero. This is a fine conclusion to an interesting premise.
