This book was soooo good! The action was intense and there were of course some hilarious scenes.
I absolutely love Nine. He cracks me up whenever he's around. The scene where Five saves him from the fall off the Hunter, and he (Nine) immediately punches him in the face was great.
The development of Legacies in humans is very interesting and I can't wait to see how things conclude with that in the final book. I love the concept and hope that those who have developed them decide to stand and fight against the Mogadorians. Daniela, one of the humans who developed Legacies, annoys me a bit though.
I still don't trust Five at all and I really hope that the Guarde are careful about him. Speaking of stuff like that, I show more really think Six and Marina and Adam should have killed Phiri Dun Ra when they had the chance.
That ending!!! It was so sad and I feel terrible for Four (John). That being said, I am just glad that of all those who could have died in this book, none of the Guarde died. show less

I'm diverging from my regular rating rules. Normally, a 2 1/2 star would mean I'm not reading more from an author. But I'm six books in with one to go (unless I read the side stories, which I don't plan to do). So this review will sound repetitive. The Lorien Legacies are fluff, even for YA lit I think. But they've been that all along and managed to throw in just enough curves to keep it from being completely formulaic. So why the half-star drop? Constant poor attention to detail.
One case, the author described two different characters as "sneering" within 14 pages. It's a strong descriptor. Don't overuse. A bigger problem was continuity. A character shows up and is described as having an arm in a sling. A few pages later, that same show more character puts both hands on their hips in disapproval. Really? Where'd the sling go? There was a mention of healing the arm, but it's very clearly declined. Just sloppy. Pretty sure the arm gets used later too without mention of healing. That's just one case of a handful. Maybe the editor is getting paid as poorly as the writers are by James Frey. show less

After watching the film, I Am Number Four, I admit I was put off reading the series. I mean, the CGI was just so bad and the story didn't add up, the acting ... meh. It's the same way I felt over The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones film, but I got over it in the end and I'm slowly forcing myself to read the series. However, when Penguin Random House SA sent The Fate of Ten by Pittacus Lore for review, I was pleasantly surprised at how exciting this fast-paced, high-octane young adult novel is. Now, I can't speak for the other books in the series, but this one was quite a lot of fun to read.
I'm not familiar with the characters, and I don't have a clue what happened in the previous books (I remember the movie well enough, but I try not show more to), so I can't really compare this book to the others. That said, I can compare The Fate of Ten to other, similar novels, and I must say it holds itself to a high standard.
There were some awesome action scenes and splendid twists, as I've mentioned earlier, and I have to admit that I quite enjoyed the dystopian setting. It's been a while since I've delved into dystopians, but The Fate of Ten has made me eager to check out what's new in the genre. Also, I think I want to go back and read the rest of the Lorien Legacies series ... I know there's a lot of mixed feelings, but if I could forgive The Mortal Instruments' crappy movie, I think I can maybe forgive I Am Number Four for its existence.
You never know right?
YA readers will love The Fate of Ten, especially if they're more interested in action junkie type of reads, but try to get the rest of the books before you gift them this one.

Another quick read. I am still enjoying this series and this one had a few twists and turns that were not expected. One more to go to see how these kids save the earth.

I was probably halfway through Fate of Ten when I realized that it was NOT the final book of the series. That irked me a little because I had opted to pay a late fine at the library in order to finish it thinking I was getting the grande finale.
Despite that, this book was good. Again, not as action packed as the previous novels though it does increase as you reach the end. It helps link up all of your questions and has some interesting developments that have me on edge to see how everything is going to wrap up. Solid book overall.
