Both twee and preachy. As if kids shouldn't feel grumpy if they're at a party and they get warm prune-grapefruit soda!
Oh my goodness! This book is picture book perfection! I LOVE the message. I LOVE LOVE the illustrations! I immediately found the rest of the books by this author/illustrator in our library after reading this. This is one to own.
Bernice is so angry because everyone is getting all of the good stuff at the party except her. She misses out on the candy, the drink she gets is warm, and she doesn't get the kind of cake she wants. She gets so angry that she steals all the balloons, which end up carrying her away. Looking from above, Bernice realizes that her problems are so small and unimportant. When she decides to be happy, she has a great time and everyone else does too.
I find that this would be a good and simpke story about sharing and looking at things from a different perspective for children.
Bernice is having a really bad day but she turns things around by making very kind choices. A great book for talking about sharing.
