This story picks up shortly after book one, "City of Angels" ends. It could be read as a stand alone story, but book one was so good, I highly recommend you read this whole series in order. If you like courtroom drama, then you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
Kit Shannon has just won her first trial as a lawyer, and she now steps out on her own, leaving her mentor, to open her own law practice. She takes on the defense of a man accused of a horrible crime that will cross racial boundaries. She will see and feel the hatred and prejudice of the person she is defending and her life will be in danger. Many people, even some of the police, will be against her as she strives for the truth. Kit will also struggle with her emotions as two show more different men will be in her life, both having strong feelings for her. Kit will need to decide God's leading hand, not only in her court case, but in her personal life.
This was another very good courtroom drama and I liked how the authors made you feel as if you were there, cheering on Kit and her standard for justice. A story that was hard to put down until the end. Looking forward to book three next, "Angel of Mercy". show less
