Introduction of this edition particularly insightful.

Some of the writing seemed haphazard and not cohesive, but for the most part I enjoyed and learned from the book.

I read this when I was depressed about the outcome of Bush/Kerry, because apparently I'm my mother's daughter and turn to a higher power when depressed. I'm rereading this now because my mother died recently, so you may see more religion stuff here.

Solid introductory book about Unitarian Universalism. Slightly dated at times.

This book gives a brief summary and history of the Unitarian Universalism church. Excellent reading for someone curious about the UU denomanation.

This classic introductory text on Unitarian Universalism by John A. Buehrens, who served as President of the UUA, has been revised and includes a new forward by Robert Fulghum, author of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. This work was co-authored by Forrest Church, another distinguished UU minister, who wrote many other books important to the faith. Denise Davidoff provided a new preface. She and her husband, Jerry Davidoff, were honored with the Award for Distinguished Service to Unitarian Universalism in 2006.

Buehrens and Church both discuss their awakening experiences. The concept of deeds not creeds is explored, along with discussions about the known and unknown and other spiritual concepts. The book ends with a show more brief chronology of Unitarian Universalist history and includes suggestions for further reading. show less
