Isadora’s book about the five senses is aimed perfectly at another sense—kids’ sense of humor. Hearing, smelling, seeing, touching, tasting--our five senses allow us to experience the world in so many ways! With our ears we hear the birds sing; with our nose we smell the stinky cheese; with our eyes we see the moon and stars (and sometimes glasses help us see even better!); with our skin we feel the rain (and learn not to touch the hot stove!); and with our tongue we can taste our favorite foods.
A fun exploration of the different uses of the each of the five senses. Has many little stories with excellent messages. Wraps up with a full sensory experience of a pickle.

A beautifully illustrated introduction to the 5 senses!!! I like how it drives home how you can both hear something and yet see it, and smell it, taste it, and touch it too!!!
The book has great illustrations, and senses that young children can relate to. I like the diversity of the characters. And I like that it majority positive experiences, with a couple that were undesirable from each of the senses. I also think that to keep older toddlers engaged in this book, you would really have to put some inflection and excitement, maybe even add examples and as the children if they have experienced those things.

Takes you on a journey of all things you could encounter in a day,and gives the sense first and then a description of what sense they are using. For example when the child picks up a sea shell and holds it to their ear, they can hear the ocean, at the end it describes a pickle using all 5 senses.

I wish I still did a preschool storytime to try this one out. I suspect it will also make a great mentor text for adding sensory details to writing.
I enjoyed this book. It teaches children about their five senses. It also incorporates Spanish for EL students in the classroom.
