This was an adorable story about friendship. Rabbit is an accidental trouble maker--he is known to cause trouble wherever he goes. He got an airplane stuck in a tree and piled up the animals to help him and mouse reach it. When he failed, all of the animals fell down and were angry with him. Mouse still was kind to him. Finally, the plane was stuck in the tree again, this time with mouse and rabbit still in it. The story is told much in pictures without words on many pages. The illustrator does a great job at portraying emotion and movement through the pictures in his use of line.
Rabbit is a great friend, full of ideas and eager to help. But whenever he does “help” everything goes wrong.
This is a delightful picture book for very young children. There are very few words, allowing the parent and child plenty of room for their imaginations to fill in the story based on Rohmann’s great illustrations. I particularly loved the pile of animals Rabbit arranged in an effort to get the airplane out of the tree!
Of course, everyone forgives Rabbit because he IS such a good and loyal friend, even if he causes more problems than he fixes.

This is a light hearted book that will teach children friendships, loyalty and love. It brings to the fore that your friend could have flaws but that doesnt mean he/she does not mean well and so they should learn to be tolerant. I also like the way the book uses wordless pictures to complement the story. children can develop their own stories based on the illustrations.
It’s rare when one can say too much about a picture book or it will spoil it, but that’s the case with the Caldecott Medal winner My Friend Rabbit. It begins, “My friend Rabbit means well, But whatever he does, wherever he goes, trouble follows.” Author Eric Rohmann’s thick-edged illustrations will delight both children and their grownups, and leave no doubt as to why it won the prize in 2003.
The best friend of Mouse is a happy Rabbit who has a great penchant for taking normal situations and turning them smack upside down.
Wherever Rabbit is, trouble follows.
Well intentioned, Rabbit always creates trouble. Thinking that the solution is to come up with great ideas only nets more problems.
I loved the creativity of the story of a creature who is nice, who tries to do the right thing and yet his golden ideas turn to dust.
I very much like the theme of friendship and the love of understanding a beloved friend.

Eric Rohmann does it again with this quirky little book about friendship. The story is told from Mouse's point of view, and he focuses on his best friend, Rabbit. While Rabbit means well, it seems like he is always landing them in somekind of trouble. His solutions sometimes cause more problems than they fix. This is a great book that emphasizes sticking by your friends, no matter how much of a jinx they might be or how annoying other people might find them.
This book focuses on a rabbit that means well but always manages to make the situation worse or dangerous for other animals. Rabbit notices a mouse that is stuck in a tree so the first thing rabbit thinks of to do is find other animals and stack them all up to reach the mouse in the tree. Rabbit doesn't notice that the other animals are not to happy and eventually everyone falls down and almost squishes a family of ducks. As you can see rabbit had good intention but didn't fully think of the situation he was putting others in. This is a good fantasy book because it has animals making human mistakes. It as a rabbit that never fully thinks about his actions which some humans do. This book also brings in other animals to portray other show more people and how they might feel about rabbits actions. show less
