I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is the first book I've ready by author McClone and the BarV ranch, but it certainly won't be the last! I look forward to reading other books in the series because I was intrigued by all the characters.

This story centers around Josiah, a successful businessman who has returned to his hometown to recover from a serious infection. His "holiday" is one spent under duress as he has a very Scrooge mentality towards anything Christmas.

He has met his match in Ellie, who is full of Christmas cheer and determined to make the holiday the best ever. Ellie hasn't seen Josiah since he moved away years before, but she knew him through the tutoring her brother did for Josiah.

Sparks fly, but not right away - McClone does a fantastic job in letting their relationship build. This was such a feel-good novel, and one I wouldn't limit to the Christmas season, as the story itself is timeless! ( )

I have decided for 2021 to review one Christmas book on the 25th of every month. Who says Christmas reads have to be reserved for the holiday season alone? I actually read A Christmas Homecoming around Thanksgiving but was never able to get my review up for one reason or another, but I will say it was the perfect way to kick off my holiday season!

A Christmas Homecoming has a very Hallmark-esque feel to it, as in it is a little too good to be true and squeaky clean, but it's hard not to fall in love with the characters and the dreamy setting.

I did crave a little more drama and less of the sugary sweetness, but that's just a personal preference. There are some stories that are just a little too perfect, and this is one of them, and I tend to bend towards the more realistic, flawed stories myself, but if that is you're thing you are in going to love this book.

Though "practically perfect in every way" this was a deliciously quick read that captures your attention and your imagination, igniting the holiday spirit within your heart. ( )

A Christmas Homecoming is a short and sweet holiday treat. First off let me say that one of the things I find to be most intriguing about the story is it's tempo. I loved how she slowly leads the reader into a love story between the two main characters. That made the story for me so much more emotional because I got to learn some of the back history of their relationship as the story went on. One of the reasons that I always come back to Ms. McClone is that her understanding of emotion in her writing is superb. She is never showy but gets her point across and leaves me loving her work. A Christmas Homecoming by Melissa McClone
Have read other works by the author and am familiar with the locale of this book and other authors who write from the same area.
Elle works at the ranch, not only tending to the guests by Josiah-her brother's friend and she had a crush on him when she was younger.
He's returned home after the war damage and he's doing rehab. Love hearing of the winter activities as she is able to talk him into going.
He does find her attractive but he comes off as uninterested. She loves getting him under the mistletoe and kissing him.
Love hearing of the volunteer work she does and how he signs up to help out as well.
Like interaction with other males and how Josiah finds out more about Elle's past and that makes him want to help out a lot more...
Elle knows she has to stay away from him and another at the Bar V5 will try to attract Josiah-Elle wants to be far away from witnessing all that.
Josiah tries to stay up on the happenings with Wittech-the company he does computer work for. Like the suggestions of how to improve your brain memory.
She learns about his business after rescuing the lost cat and she realizes he also has financed the kids day-by supplying favorite foods, after all he's a millionaire.
With Christmas the whole day and their relationship changes and you wonder if they will ever get together....
Enjoyed the read and learning new things about Montana and the people at the Bar V5 ranch.
Excerpt from the next book is included. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end. ( )

"DNF – While I am a big fan of Ms. McClone and her Bar V5 Dude Ranch Series, as well as I enjoyed getting updates of past characters, my interest in this one just couldn’t hold for long. I mean the plot was great; a Grinch-like guy forced stay at the ranch brings him into constant contact with a girl (turned woman) from his past who loves Christmas and shows him what he truly needs in his life. But by 60%..."
